- Check air filtration clean dry air is mandatory for life of the components.
- Make sure the part is held firmly and not loose when being marked.
- Make sure the distance from the diamond tip to the part has not changed (check unit bracket mountings),
- The diamond stylus life is dependent on how much “work” it performs either scribing or dot peening.
- Although they last much longer than drills or carbide tooling, they are the perishable tool that still needs to be changed out regularly.
- If it is used in a semi-production mode, I would suggest at least changing the tip once per month.
